The Power of Mentorship

May 22nd, 2009

It’s amazing to me how many people choose a goal, and then try to go it alone.  As a master goal achiever, one of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is simply this, when you set a goal, don’t be an innovator; instead, learn to be a master imitator.  No matter what your goal is, there’s someone who’s gone before; someone who’s successfully achieved the goal you desire.

The first step is to identify who they are and how you can align yourself with them. Successful people never waste their time, their energy or their resources trying to reinvent the wheel. They know that will only lead to frustration.

Successful people always choose a mentor. That’s because when you have a mentor, you don’t have to move up in levels, but you take quantum leaps towards your success. When you have a mentor, you get to tap into their knowledge, their wisdom and their skill sets, ensuring your success. Remember, success always leaves clues.

I want to share with you a powerful new resource. It’s my new Goal Achievers Club.

For less than a dollar a day, you will be provided with 24 hour access to everything you need; live weekly training calls with successful mentors, an eBook success library with the greatest books on success ever written, life changing audios and videos, and access to powerful articles, special reports and Ezines that will help you succeed in every area of your life, with great new content added every week.

Why Goals Are Necessary

April 15th, 2009

Have you ever noticed how some people seem to achieve their goals at will, while others seem to struggle continuously? Have you ever stopped to wonder why? As a Peak Performance Coach, I assure you, you can achieve ALL your goals in life. And that’s the very purpose and mission of this monthly column. To ensure that you, our loyal readers have all the knowledge and wisdom needed to effectively set, plan and achieve ALL your goals ALL the time. No more hit or miss.

I promise you that every month I will share with you in this column, some of the greatest secrets used by World-Class Goal Achievers. Since this is the premier issue, I feel obligated to begin our column by clarifying for you why having a written set of goals is absolutely vital to your success in life.

There is a great quote written by Mark Twain, in which he said, “Most men die at the age of 27; they’re just not buried until they are 70.” After pondering hard on this powerful quote, I realized exactly what he meant, and just how true this statement really is.

By the time man turns 27, he has bowed in defeat to the constraints and responsibilities of life and has accepted a life of mediocrity. He has given up on any dreams he may have once had. I am now going to share with you one of the greatest secrets that every World-Class Goal Achiever holds in common.

In 1972, Harvard concluded a 15 year study that proved conclusively that you must have specific written goals in order to succeed in life. After interviewing the graduating class of 1956, the 15 year study revealed two things that you must know. One, they found that 3% of the graduating class had achieved more than the other 97% combined; and two, they found the only measurable difference between the two groups was the highly successful group of 3% had a written list of specific goals at the time of graduation. Wow! A written set of specific goals was the only difference; hum, sounds pretty conclusive and convincing to me. How about you?

You see, the truth is most people go through life as wandering generalities with no real set of specific goals for their life. But, you must understand that you were created to be a meaningful specific. Your life is meant to “live on purpose” and not left to chance.

You must wake up to the fact that this is your life and not just some dress rehearsal. Life is not just something that happens, but it’s something that you create. Therefore, you must have a set of clearly defined goals for each of the seven areas of your life. Those areas include you mental, physical, spiritual, vocational, family, financial and social areas of your life. Goals add purpose and meaning to your life by giving you something to aim for in each of these areas and help to ensure balance in your life.

Can you imagine what would happen if you were to take away the goal in any goal oriented sport such as archery, soccer or basketball? The participants would simply become wandering generalities. However, the moment you add the goal back in, they become meaningful specifics once again, because now they have something to aim for.

Without a goal, you have nothing to aim for in life, and without something to aim for you will never know how you are doing on your “Journey to Success.”

Without a goal, it’s easy to confuse activity with accomplishment. That’s because without a goal, there is no direction and without direction, life becomes chaos.

If you’re truly serious about learning the great secrets of all World-Class Goal Achievers, then take the first step. Make the decision, right now, that you will become a meaningful specific by setting and planning goals for every area of your life. By simply committing them to paper, you have joined the ranks of the 3% in life who achieve more than the other 97% combined. Remember, this is your life, not a dress rehearsal. Once you have a written set of goals, begin to focus on them daily.

Next issue, we will really begin to delve into the action steps necessary to achieve ALL your goals ALL the time. Trust me; you don’t want to miss that issue.

Dream Big Dreams

March 8th, 2009

A Special Report from Jim Driscoll

Today we’re going to expand our horizons. It’s time to Dream. World Class Goal Achievers dream big dreams. If you don’t believe me, just ask anyone who has ever achieved anything big in life, and they will tell you it all started with a big dream. And the bigger the achievement the bigger the dream was. The Super-Successful have dreams so powerful that their desire is unstoppable.

Remember, desire is the power source that drives the Super-Successful to achieve their dreams, and dreams are what super-charge the desire.

The problem is most people have been conditioned not to dream. Think back to grade school at all the times you were told from your parents or teacher to, “Stop daydreaming.”

Or worse, how many have been conditioned not to believe in the possibility of achieving our dreams. Studies show that by the time a child turns 18 years old, they have been told, on average, 148,000 times “stop that; don’t do that; youcan’t do that; what made you think you can do that”.

No wonder Mark Twain said, “Most people die at the age of 27, they’re just not buried until there 70.” It’s so true.

We have been conditioned that we have to deal with reality, and so there is no time to dream. And there is definitely no time to do anything about our dreams.

No words can describe how sad this fact is. Because you see, imagination and dreams are the seedlings of reality. They are the greatest gift God gave us and yet very few of us indulge ourselves in this gift. They were given to us as God’sway to share and communicate with us.

Did you know that the word desire originates from the Latin words (De) and (Sire), which means -From the Father-. Thousands of years ago, they were wise enough to know that our dreams and desires originate from the Father, and believe me, if God gives you a dream, he will provide you with a way to obtain it. There is absolutely nothing you cannot be, do or have in this wonderful life we live.

So here’s some great news, all is not lost; you know you are still reading this because you still have a dream. You still want to believe in your dreams, right?

But your negative conditioning is strong. It started shortly after birth. In learning to exist in a dangerous world we had to learn that we shouldn’t do many things, like touching the hot stove, to avoid being hurt.

Now don’t get me wrong, some of this conditioning was mandatory. Otherwise we would live with constant injury and pain from our continual injuries. However, too many times, we become so over conditioned, that our dreams become the causality.

Remember this, all big achievers had unrealistic dreams in the eyes of their peers. But the achievers didn’t let the common opinion of others get in their way.

Their negative conditioning may have caused some fear of failure. Their negativeconditioning may have caused doubts about the possibility of success. Their negative conditioning may have even caused concern about the waste of effort by pursuing something everyone else believed to be impossible. But they didn’t let those thoughts stop them. Instead, they learned to manage their negative thoughts. Everyone has those thoughts. And that’s OK. But if you give them strength by entertaining them for even a moment in your conscious mind, you run the risk of allowing them to become impressed upon your subconscious mind. And if that happens, your dreams can lose their believability. And unbelievable dreams have no power. Unbelievable dreams produce no desire.

World Class Goal Achievers have learned to be 100% aware of all the thoughts that enter their conscious mind. They guard their thoughts because they are fully aware that the thoughts they allow to enter their subconscious mind willdetermine their feelings, and those feelings drive actions, and actions produce your results.

Don’t entertain your negative thoughts, instead, focus on your dreams. As I said earlier, dreams are the seedlings of your reality. Focus continuously on your big dreams. Those dreams will produce good feelings in you and, as we just said, those good feelings will produce good actions and good actions produce your good results.

To amplify your dreams make them real in your mind. Make a mental image, in great detail, of the dream. Put yourself into that image. See yourself living in that image. The more real you make the image the more power you generate.

Go through that process with all your dreams. Make them real in your mind first. Give them power. The more power you give your dreams, the more you stoke the fire of your desire.

Embrace the great quote, “You are the master of your fate, the captain of your ship.” You are truly the creator of your life, so dream big.

Learn it, Live it, Pass it on.
